The newest site in the Learning Network will be at the Northstar Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Minnesota. The new Basecamp facility will provide a variety of team-building experiences for thousands of scouts, regional school students, teachers, and even adults. The Basecamp will feature a SPACE EXPLORERS Shuttle Training Facility.

To promote the presence of the shuttle simulator at Basecamp, it was installed at the Council's Starcamp celebration of the centennial of Scouting. More than 2500 Scouts and adults took a guided tour of the shuttle and the Mission Control staffed by a team of trained Flight Directors, and featuring Scout teams flying demonstration missions. Another 30 plus volunteers have signed up for Flight Director training for operations at Basecamp. Dr. Kerry Joels was presented with an award for bringing the shuttle program to Minnesota.

StarCamp Attendance topped 11,500 for a Scouting Centennial Celebration that will be a highlight for years to come.

StarCamp lived up to its slogan as "The Adventure of the Century," what an extraordinary weekend!

Featuring over 180 activities, demonstrations and events to choose from, participants had fun, exciting and educational experiences.
